Abstract:
The movement of people and products through high-traffic business locations and work areas is a difficult thing to monitor visually. Some employers have paid millions in security, cameras, and access control systems to keep an eye on staff and consumer goods; however, it is not enough to close the net completely. Companies seeking an effective solution for the tracking and monitoring of assets can now find it with a relatively new technology. Real-time locating systems (RTLSs) provide a way to monitor the location and movements of tags affixed to products, vehicles, and even inside employee identification (ID) badges through radio-frequency identification (RFID). This technology improves access to sensitive areas for qualified employees while sending automatic alerts whenever a product is removed from the store or someone enters an unauthorized area.
