I. Introduction
In a fact sheet published by the World Health Organisation (WHO), around 1.3 million people across the world lost their lives in crashes on the road, whereas 20 to 50 million suffer non-fatal injuries, many of which result in a disability [1]. In Malaysia alone, according to the Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport, road accidents have been on the rise between 2010 and 2019, as road accidents have increased from 414,421 cases per year to 567,516 cases in 2019 [2]. On the other hand, according to the Malaysia Road Fatalities Index, an average of 18 people lose their lives in road accidents in Malaysia daily [3]. Additionally, Federal Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Datuk Mat Kasim Karim stated that throughout the Movement Control Order (MCO) implementation period in Malaysia from March 18, 2020, to 13 October 2021, 566,760 accidents were reported, among them 5,412 were fatal with 5,739 mortalities [4].
