Abstract:

This paper presents a Hall sensor for precise linear position detection, implemented in 130 nm BCD technology. The sensor contains temperature, mechanical stress and technology spread compensation and provides an analog output ratiometric to the external supply voltage. To comply with offset and noise requirements, the current spinning technique is applied to the Hall elements and chopping as well as an on-chip ripple reduction loop is implemented in the Hall signal amplifier. With this sensor concept an overall uncalibrated sensitivity error less than ± 5 % is achieved.
