Survey on Future Mobile Core Network using Live Service Migration

With the fast developing of mobile communication network, the service-based architecture(SBA) has become a mature and flexible architecture accepted by 5G core(5GC) network. Look into the future, we deem that the existing SBA in 5GC is not flexible enough to serve massive devices with various communication services, and it will benefit from live service migration(LSM). This paper investigates the current development status of both SBA in 5GC and LSM in mobile scenarios, discusses the possible network architecture, impacted procedures and potential evolutions with the combination of core network and LSM in the 5G-Advanced or even future 6G network. Accompanied with such integration, the potential opportunities and challenges are analyzed and presented as well.
