Abstract:
Aluminium alloy foams are used in a wide range of engineering applications due to their remarkable technical qualities of high strength, low density, and low cost. Nonferrous alloy foams are more robust and wear-resistant after cryogenic treatment. This investigation is to evaluate the compression test characteristics of Al6101 closed-cell foam samples under heat and cryogenic surface treatment conditions. The compression test results have been simulated in ANSYS Workbench and validated against experimental results. Experimental findings indicate that Al6101 foams with cryogenic treatment improve brittleness. The comparison between experimental and ANSYS results shows less than a 4% deviation between them.
