BELDaaS: Blockchain Enabled Lucky Draw as a Service

A sweepstake (also called a lucky draw) is a promotional event in which prizes are given out without requiring the participants to incur any additional cost. However, traditional sweepstakes, both offline and online, lack the important aspects of verifiability and auditability. The participants have to vest trust on the organizers that the draw is conducted fairly. In this paper, we present BELDaas - Blockchain Enabled Lucky Draw as a Service. It can be effectively used by sweepstake organizers to host their own events and draw random winners. At the same time, the proposed service also allows participants to independently verify the fairness of the draw directly from the blockchain. Experimental results show that the cost incurred for using the service is nominal.
