Chapter Abstract:

All companies collect digital archives and are confronted with numerous problems related to organizational, technical, legal, normative and strategic aspects. Archiving is aimed only at validated data and whose conservation represents an interest for a well‐identified reason. A digital archiving system must be able to produce daily logs of Electronic Archiving Systems events, archive lifecycle, archived documents, storage system logs and other events. The Open Archiving Information System standard presents the constraints for implementing a sustainable digital archiving system in the face of technological changes and transformations. The challenge of digital archiving is to take a broad approach to information and documents from their validation to their destruction. Audiovisual documents are therefore technological media whose contents can only be read and consulted using technology. The arrival of digital technology has the benefit of putting audiovisual archives on an equal footing with other digital archives.
