Abstract:

The desire for Low Profile, High Gain, Compact Sized antennas is increasing persistently due to rapid advancement in the telecommunication field. It is significant to have extensive bandwidth since the data rate performance is closely associated with the resonating frequency bandwidth. Fractal antennas play an active role in accomplishing the above-stated demands and have attributes one step ahead of the prevalent microstrip (patch) antennas. The proposed antenna uses Sierpinski fractal structures. The CST (Computer Simulation Technology) studio suite software can be used to analyze the fractal antenna design and to check the various parameters such as VSWR, radiation pattern, pattern gain, etc. It aims to cover the frequency ranges of 2.36–2.4 GHz termed as MBAN - Medical Body Area Network band and 2.4–2.48 GHz termed as ISM - Industrial Scientific and Medical band. The Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) of the proposed antenna is strived to be reduced below the definitive SAR of 1.6 W/kg. The recommended antenna is of low cost and reliable for various applications. In this paper, a comparative study on fractal antennas with distinct structures and dielectric substrates is being performed.
