Over the course of the study, we were often asked—indeed, until this day, we continue to be asked: "What are, or what were, your hypotheses?" When succumbing to the academic's urge to be clever, we quote Sir Isaac Newton, who famously claimed: "Hypotheses non fingo"—loosely, "I don't make any hypotheses." But in fact, that claim has considerable legitimacy. Other than some areas in which we and our colleagues at Project Zero had particular interests (e.g., ethics, civics, digital life, the arts), we determined to cast a wide net.
