Abstract:
Feedback is a vital part of improving the learning of students and the teaching of instructors in higher education. However, feedback has not worked efficiently and effectively as expected at present. In this paper, we present a novel cloud-based system for collecting student feedback on teaching and their self-reflection on learning with the K.I.S.S (Keep-Improve-Stop-Start) Framework based on the theory of social-constructivism theory about teaching and learning. With this system, students participate in evaluations of teaching and self-reflection of their learning process anonymously from their mobile phones, pad, or other devices. Instructors share and discuss the feedback with students in the classroom. This new framework motivates students to participate in the evaluation of teaching. And it also encourages students to reflect on self-learning. The case study shows that the feedback from students is objective, reliable, and accurate and can harness teaching and learning.
