Abstract:

The dynamics of Indian consumers especially in the changes in their purchase behavior and consequent changes in spending pattern has definitely added flavor to the fiercely competitive market which has started to contribute to India's GDP. Notwithstanding the domestic growth, it has also managed to catch the attention of the developed nations which are looking for newer and sustained market opportunities for their products, goods, and services. Among the causes, one of the main reasons is attributed to the changing habits of consumers with respect to hobbies and fast adoption of (westernized) lifestyle. It is clear that the consumption of consumers is lifestyle-oriented and has a direct influence on the economy's progress and many other issues like inflation. It is imperative that concrete research to establish cause and effect relationships are not many, however, demographic variables like income, spending patterns; behavioral or psychological factors like hobbies, lifestyle, weekend mindset have had definite effects on consumer's shopping/purchase behavior. In this paper, we are classifying Indian Consumers based on their income, spending, lifestyle, hobbies, and by their shopping trends (current buying habits).
