Abstract:

The agriculture industry is under incremental transformation with the aim to optimize on resources and maximize on productions to bridge the gap between demand and supply for growing population. Emerging technologies such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and Internet of Things (IoT) when equipped with the cameras and sensors have the lot of potential to provide data-driven solutions for precision agriculture. Agriculture has become an obvious target for big data analytics and cloud computing vendors to exploit the value hidden inside the data, and convert the farms into factories by optimizing every step of the agricultural cycle from seedling to harvesting. In this paper, we discuss that how drones can be utilized for agricultural data analysis with IoT. The paper overviews on the supporting technologies such as big data analytics and cloud computing for providing data-based solutions and comparison of agricultural drones. Furthermore, the challenges in the implementation of drone using IoT are also discussed.
