Abstract:
The paper presents a new original approach to solving rather a wide circle of tasks in optics and photonics. This approach involves calculation of the sought-for optical signal’s characteristic by means of analyzing the measured data within the Rice statistical model. The technique having been developed implies the application of the methods of the Rician data two-parameter analysis. Such an analysis provides a possibility of joint estimation of the signal and the noise values just based on the sampled measurements while no any a-priori assumptions are done. One of the proposed applications of such an approach concerns the tasks of measuring the optical properties of a medium, such as an electro-optical coefficient, on the basis of the statistical analysis of the optical wave reflection from the sample of electro-optical medium under the influence of the modulated electric field. Another example of the developed technique’s perspective application relates to the problem of the accurate phase shift measuring at quasi-harmonic optical signals’ interferometry.
