Abstract:

Medical implants such as pacemaker and implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) uses MICS network to communicate wirelessly to transfer crucial information. Several vulnerabilities in MICS communication can lead to dangerous threats like confidential information leakage, failure of device and due to tampered configurations it leads to even death. This paper focuses mainly on the vulnerabilities in the communication module of implants from a confidentiality, integrity and availability (CIA) triad. A threat model is developed in this work to identify the possible vulnerabilities and attacks on MICS network.
