Abstract:

Water conservation is the need of the day for the mankind in the world. The proposed work presents a solution designed as an automatic water distributer and flow monitoring system with sensors in the environment of IoT. The system has been designed with Infrared and Ultrasonic sensors at appropriate places to control the water distribution. Smart taps operates automatically based on the requirement avoiding water wastage due to human negligence. IR sensors have been used to detect the height of the object or vessels and ultrasonic sensors controls water flow automatically. The proposed method may change the lifestyle of the public avoiding operating the tap manually through their hands. The system can be well adopted in smart cities project and as well in our villages where water distribution through water tanks are in existence. The system has been designed to be fully automatic and hence provides a solution for the necessity of hygienic practice to avoid disease infection during pandemic situations. The data collected from the sensors can be monitored and analyzed through a mobile application connected to the sensors. The system has been experimented and the results show low cost, efficient and scalable solution for water conservation.
