Abstract:
Modern smart grids consist of distributed renewable energy resources and consumers may even act as suppliers to an extent. Demand Side Management (DSM) is a well-known technique that is used by utilities to regulate the electrical demand and consumption patterns. Demand response can vary significantly for DSM initiatives based on several factors. This warrants the estimation of demand response. This paper proposes a typical framework for demand response quantification for various DSM initiatives. Details of the proposed framework, data requirements and a few case studies are presented to illustrate its functionality towards quantifying the demand response.
