Abstract:
An elevator is an essential part of a building that helps people commute faster between different floors. Its design requires a good amount of investment as it includes costs of both hardware as well as power. In offices, hospitals, and other buildings for commercial use, everyone works under time constraints and a delay caused by an elevator is undesirable. In this paper, we propose ways to make an elevator `intelligent' and more efficient by reducing the time during travel and power consumption by deploying a sensor-based check system. When the elevator reaches a floor on a hall call request, if the elevator car's full load capacity is about to reach, then it will move onto the next command without stopping on that floor. After the elevator doors are closed and the elevator cabin is detected empty, then the cabin lights will turn off, else they stay on. We have simulated our intelligent elevator design using ladder logic for PLC.
