Intelligent System for Predicting Suicidal Behaviour from Social Media and Health Data

Suicide is one of the most common causes of unnatural death in Bangladesh. Suicide affects not only the person but also the surroundings as well. It always has been very enigmatic to analyze the risk of attempting suicide of any individual. As Bangladesh has vast social media users, data taken from social media along with health resources can play an important role to assess the risk of suicide attempts. By using natural language processing and deep learning techniques, an automated intelligence system can detect the possibilities of attempting suicide through social media and health data. This type of technology will be able to develop culture-specific and real-time suicide preventive systems to detect some social media users if they are at risk and can guide them to take medication or counselling according to their mental state. We will also study the privacy concern and ethical issues of this area of concern.
