Abstract:

ARP spoofing allows an attacker to eavesdrop on communications between other nodes, modify the contents of packets, and hijack communications. Here the causes of ARP spoofing are discussed and analyzed in detail. A new mechanism is introduced to prevent ARP spoofing attacks while overcoming the limitations of traditional methods. The scheme can make the upgraded normal nodes protect each other through cooperation on the basis of voting and calculation puzzles. As a result, an enhanced ARP is introduced in this paper to prevent MITM attacks even in wired or wireless LAN environments. Computer simulations illustrate the good performance of the proposed method.
