Abstract:

A joint work of all areas of the plant is manifested in the design, manufacture and assembly of the fuel mixer, that will improve the quality of the fuel that is received in the plant, this device automatically doses the injection of diesel to the main line of HFO, depending on the viscosity that has the mentioned fuel, this innovation leads to obtain a better fuel for the engines, improving the overall efficiency of the plant, prolonging the useful life of the generators and also decreases NOx emissions.

I. Introduction

Quevedo II thermoelectric power plant is constituted by 60 Hyundai H21/32 Gensets with a total installed capacity of 102 MW, its operation is based on diesel and heavy fuel HFO, the starting of each engine must be made with diesel once they reach the established parameters the fuel is changed to HFO, the bad quality of the fuel HFO 6 (heavy fuel oil) generates great mechanical problems to the engine to produce a correct combustion must enter At 120 degrees Celsius in this way the viscosity is adequate but despite reaching the ideal temperature are great drawbacks for this reason is intended to implement a fuel mixer with the aim of reducing the viscosity of the HFO and is more manageable for the engine.
