Abstract:
The conventional front end electronics (FEE) for nuclear spectroscopy follow analog processing of detector signal via preamplifier, spectroscopy amplifier then digitizer. These analog processing may be substituted by digital processing electronics with better results. The entire digital operations perform in a single Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) hardware platform. A fast sampling Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) board is used to digitize the preamplifier analog output, then the digitized signal processed in FPGA board in digital domain. This paper describe the design of high resolution digital filter and experimental resolution measurement of subsequent Digital Data Acquisition System (DAQ).
