Abstract:

Internet of thing (IoT) nodes can be spread over wide area to cover the necessary monitored environment. In some cases, an extended node that works almost similar to wireless sensor network (WSN) may be required to cover extra area. However, IoT node that receives data from the extended node should have enough processing capabilities more than the ordinary IoT node. This paper examines IoT data collection performances when extra node is attached to an IoT node by using a free license radio. Assessment shows that data collection performances decrease as an extended device is attached to an IoT node. However, thread based can maintain better performance for both received data and power consumption.
