Abstract:

Quaternion orthogonal designs (QDDs) offer a variety of attributes in terms of higher data transmission rates, improved throughput and good quality of service (QoS) to enhance the capabilities of wireless communication among dualpolarized antennas. In space time block coding, it is desirous to develop codes with full diversity and optimal decoders. The main result of this paper is to present a class of generalized quaternion orthogonal designs (QDDs) which have maximal coding rates and attain full diversity. Besides, all such designs in the presence of a quaternionic channel system model have linear and decoupled Maximum-Likelihood (ML) decoders which incredibly reduce the computational cost at the receiver. The performance at high as well as low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is improved for such designs.
