The History of Computing Technology in the Works of I.A. Apokin

The books and articles by I.A. Apokin hold a special place among numerous publications on the history of computing technology. In 1971, he defended the first dissertation in the USSR that was devoted to the history of digital computing machines. In 1974, together with L.E.Maistrov, he published the first fundamental study of the evolution of computing machines, of which he wrote the part devoted to the history of electronic computing technology. Another study on this topic by Apokin and Maistrov covering new sources as well as a large number of works by international authors was published in 1990. Apokin also wrote a number of papers on the history of electronic computing machines and co-authored the scientific biography of Charles Babbage.
