Abstract:
Drugs are a type of medication that can affect health and psychiatric disorders. The increase of drug abuse, especially the younger generation can endanger the survival of this nation in the future, then the rehabilitation using methadone treatment is needed. In this study, an experiment to identify the effect of methadone on the changes in the amplitude of the EEG P300 signal waveform was evaluated. Eight methadone rehabilitation subjects were contributed in the EEG data recording. Five pictures similar with the drug (with one is the real picture of drug) are displayed randomly to each subject to stimulate the P300 component, also known as the EEG P300 signal. The EEG record was conducted in two sessions: before and after one hour of methadone intake. In this paper, the P300 component is not evaluated but the changes in the amplitude of delta, theta, alpha, alpha 1, beta 2 and gamma waves. The results of the signal processing show that the amplitude of the brain wave increases at an average of 1,7% at high frequencies namely alpha, beta and gamma after consuming methadone. An increase in high frequency indicates a functional improvement of the brain due to methadone.
