Abstract:

Recently Micro Ring Resonator (MRR) have found its application in designing optical logic gates. This paper describes the working of a demultiplexer using MRRs. MRR behaves as a powerful optical switching device. Due to this, realization of AND gate and NOT gate has been proposed by appropriate arrangements of the MRRs. The combination of optical AND and optical NOT gates helps in the realization of 1:2 optical demultiplexer. The area of the simulated 1:2 Optical Demultiplexer design is approximately 16000 um2. The design has been carried out according to the existing semiconductor foundries capability.
