Abstract:
A 5.8-GHz Yagi antenna consisting of a reflector and one director is optimized for high gain using the classic method and then optimized even more using the Genetic Algorithms. The approach was to divide the director into pixels and then to cut away a random number of randomly placed pixels, then to find the best antenna performances in terms of gain and return loss. The proposed configuration achieved a 0.33 dB improvement in realized gain and is suitable for wireless communication systems.
