Abstract:

Magnetic field sensors are of prime importance for robotics, industrial and automotive applications. Due to the digital transformation there is a dramatically increasing density of electronic systems in mechatronics. Thus, the number of stray field sources is significantly rising. Since interfering magnetic fields corrupt the accuracy and reliability of magnetic angular position sensors, in this paper a novel approach for the suppression of disturbing magnetic fields is presented. Instead of a single angle sensor the proposed methodology uses an array consisting of 2D magnetometers. An efficient sensor signal processing, which is based on 2D discrete Fourier transformations, calculates the angular position and eliminates angle errors produced by disturbing magnetic fields. Simulations were conducted in order to validate the presented methodology.
