Abstract:

A simulation model with a dynamic PID control exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) system of a marine diesel engine is developed, and the model is well validated with the experimental data. The goal of the research is to study the reduction of NOx emissions by using EGR method to comply with Tier III regulation. The value of the simulation reveals a good agreement with the experimental data for NOx emissions of the engine in full load. The results show that the intense latent capacity of EGR method to decrease the NOx emissions of a two-stroke marine diesel engine, and the calculated data reveals that it can meet the Tier III regulation for NOx emissions when the EGR rate reaches 37%.
