Abstract:

Electro Mechanical Actuators (EMA) are used widely for airborne military avionics and flight control applications. Digital Actuator Controller Electronics was built using DSP TMS320F2812 from Texas Instruments specifically for high performance, math intensive power electronics control along with 1553B Communication IC, Clock Oscillator, Analog to Digital Convertor (ADC), Motor Control IC, watchdog timer IC along with active and passive components. 1553B bus is a military avionics bus widely used for communication with dual redundant architecture. Onboard Flight and Safety Critical Program is loaded into the On-Chip Flash memory of Digital Controller. This paper introduces 1553B bus protocol, and also addresses the hardware interface and software design using DSP chip TMS320F2812 for a remote terminal application. Servo closed loop control consists of position loop and derived rate loop along with test results with high dynamic response, high precision and static performance.
