Abstract:

We demonstrated semiconductor optical amplifiers capable of operating at 64Gbaud for 16–64QAM modulation with large dynamic ranges. The full characterizations of SOA as transmitter booster and receiver pre-amplifier for 400Gb/s to 600Gb/s applications were reported.

I. Introduction

Coherent transceivers with high baud rate and high order quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) are attractive for Data Center interconnect (DCI) applications. Dual polarization (DP) 16QAM is an efficient single carrier 400Gbit/s solution for DCI [1]. 64Gbaud DP-64QAM can achieve single carrier 600Gbit/s and dual carrier 1.2Tb/s.
