Abstract:

Wearable technology, one of the most significant trends in the mobile computing evolution, is gradually changing our daily life. Meanwhile, as a real-time multimedia transmission technology, live streaming technology has been widely applied to wearable devices. To solve the problems such as the limited computational resource, power and the poor communication condition of wearable devices when designing the live streaming system. We optimize the system design and implement a live streaming system for wearable devices in this paper. In the coding layer, we implement the compression coding of multimedia data based on Android hard-encoded interface to reduce the consumption of the computational resource and power. In addition, the FLV format encapsulation is adopted to improve the adaptability of the publishing layer. In the publishing layer, the real-time transmission of multimedia data is realized by the RTMP connection based on TCP, which effectively improves the communication condition of wearable devices. The experimental results show that the live streaming system for wearable devices can work stably and has a good performance on the transmission.
