Abstract:
There are a number of popular choices for using relational data processing systems and there are many complex factors that decide what gets deployed for specific data processing tasks such as integration of the data processing system with an overall solutions stack, open-source vs. closed-source and manageability and so on. One such factor is the performance of the system. In this paper, we examined this factor of performance of NoSQL (MongoDB) and SQL system using the YCSB benchmark. The results showed that NoSQL systems continue to provide a good performance advantage over their SQL counterparts, but the NoSQL alternatives are competitive in some cases.
