Abstract:
Ceiling Fans are an integral part of every household. Conventional ceiling fans using single phase induction motors consume approximately about 80 watts of electricity. The goal of this paper is to provide a model of an energy efficient ceiling fan based on five phase BLDC motor that consumes only 24 watts for the same output power. The paper discusses the basics of BLDC motor and then augments it with five phase BLDC motor. Actual laboratary results, fan specifications and electronic circuitry requisite to obtain trapezoidal waveform have also been discussed. Moreover the paper also discusses the importance of energy efficient devices on domestic sector to promote energy efficiency and conservation culture on load side management as well.
