Abstract:
The Independence Class Littoral Combat Ship is the newest US navy ship built after the RF stealth destroyer Zumwalt class DDG-1000, it represents a compromise between full RF stealth and practical functionality with modular adjustability for various mission. In this paper we analyze the VHF band radar cross section of the ship with a commercial finite-difference-time-domain (FDTD) code, and present its bistatic radar cross section and near field results.
