Abstract:
Optimization has a significant role in designing a system. An embedded system is expected to meet user specifications and optimize the hardware and software requirements to reduce design cost and complexity. The key parameters used for hardware optimization includes the number of components utilized, execution time, memory requirements, power consumption and resource allocation. Several optimization techniques have been proposed in the literature to address the same. Evolutionary algorithm is considered as one of the most commonly used optimization technique for various engineering and non-engineering applications. A review of various hardware optimization approaches using different variants of evolutionary algorithms and their performance evaluation over traditional methods are reported in this paper.
