Abstract:
Display technology is one of the most crucial inventions that have been developed to visualize data and pictures in both 2D and 3D form. Since the breakthrough by Kodak in 1987, organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) have gained a lot of attention throughout the world among research community and industries. The current era of organic electronics has almost taken over the conventional semiconductor based display devices due to its promising features. These promising features of OLED are making it most demanding forthcoming display technology because of low cost, easy fabrication at lower temperature and mechanical flexibility. It is therefore necessary to study the recent advancement in the field of OLEDs in order to demonstrate its commitment towards the enhanced performance features in the design of display devices. In this paper, a recent augmentation regarding OLEDs has been presented. The various device structures, color generation techniques, suitable materials and efficiency enhancement methods of OLEDs are taken under study and precise descriptions have been presented.
