Abstract:

Knowledge of the 3D geometry and the frequency content of traction current waveforms can be used to estimate the spatial distributions of low frequency magnetic fields due to electrical powertrains as well as associated metrics for assessing human field exposure risks. This paper outlines simplification strategies that have been developed for the electromagnetic modelling of the low frequency magnetic field contributions from traction battery modules formed from cylindrical 18650 cells.
