Abstract:

The problem of public transport security brings the challenges and opportunities in wireless access technology. V2X is critical component to support road safety, traffic efficiency, and connected autonomous driving. In this paper, we propose a long-term evolution (LTE)-Cellular-Based V2X solution as a systematic and integrated V2X solution to vehicular applications. It includes two Transmission modes: 1) network assistance communication and 2) autonomous direct communication. Comparing to IEEE 802.11p, it is a new Technology, and it is supported when the vehicle is served by LTE network and when the vehicle is outside of LTE coverage. The two modes of Direct Communications coordinate with each other to provide an integrated V2X solution. Performance simulations based on typical cases are presented. Finally, future works of LTE-Cellular-Based V2X are envisioned.
