Usage of agile practices in Mechatronics System Design Potentials, Challenges and Actual Surveys

Agile software development has been propagated for about twenty years and its propagation increases further on. Benefits in timely delivery, quality, team morale and more are reported. So agile practices are discussed also for mechatronical product development, often mixed with stage-gate-process - which is called a hybrid approach. Potentials, challenges and results of actual surveys are summarised here in order to develop the needed orientation and basis for a strategy how to proceed when implementing agility. This is explained and complemented by some case studies known to or attended by the author.
