Elderly condition monitoring and alert system

In many cases, elderly people live by their own with no continuous presence of family or care takers. Elderly often face medical symptoms that may be signs of serious conditions. At these times, timely recognition of those symptoms is of utmost importance. Equally important is the urgent action to seek medical assistance. The aim of this student project is to develop a system to help elderly people in the UAE. The system comprises a device that includes sensors to detect vital signs. The system will measure the heart rate, temperature, snoring, and body position. An Arduino Microcontroller is employed to analyse signals. Normal and abnormal ranges for vital signs are set. When signals are outside the normal range, an alarm will sound for neighbours to be alerted. An SMS message would be sent to the next of kin to seek their help. A short report of the abnormality will be sent to the cloud for processing and forwarded to the neighbourhood polyclinic for the attending medical staff to consider the case.
