Abstract:

This paper presents a reversible high capacity stenographic technique based on Pixel Repetition Method (PRM) and Special Data Shifting (SDS). PRM is used to extend the dimensions of input image by replicating the seed pixels to form 2 2 block of cover image for data hiding. The secret data stream is firstly converted into Octal numbers from 0 to 7. Before embedding the secret data, a four-step transition towards negative axis of the number line is achieved by shifting the secret data and thus data is confined between -4 through +3 in contrast with the conventional range of 0 through +7. Data hiding is achieved by addition of secret data digits, after necessary SDS, to the three adjacent pixels of the seed pixel in every 2×2 block of cover image. The advantage of shifting data towards negative axis is that by embedding three bits per pixel a distortion of only 2.2 bits per pixel in the cover image is observed. The simulation results reveal that the performance of our scheme is better compared to many existing state of art techniques in terms of Payload, Imperceptibility and Reversibility.
