Abstract:
Changsha Maglev Express adopts medium-low speed maglev trains based on the electromagnetic suspension (EMS) and short-primary linear induction motor (SLIM) propulsion system. When this system is further improved for an operational speed of 160 km/h, the effect of eddy current will become an important factor in influencing the operation of Maglev trains. This paper uses 3D numerical analysis method to analyze the impacts of eddy current on levitation force based on the background of Changsha Maglev Express. Through our analysis, when the speed reaches 160 km/h, the levitation force of the head magnetic module will drop by 22 %.
