Abstract:
Dimension measurement with micron resolution is a primary requirement in parts machining industry. Over years several methods are established and adopted to accomplish this task. With the advent of electronic sensors, many electronic sensors with micron resolution can be employed for measuring dimensions with more advantages over conventional methods. The aim of this research paper is to explain the working principles of various electronic sensors for micron resolution dimension measurement. The paper also reviews these electronic sensors on the basis of their accuracy, linearity, resolution, precision, range and other such key parameters. A comparison is drawn to arrive at the most suitable electronic sensor which satisfies all the requisite demands of a micron resolution dimension measuring system.
