Abstract:

Essentially, the color LED is the combination of a set of RGB colors with different intensities which driven by constant current sources due to the colors and brightness are related to their forward current. Hence, with providing an accurate current to RGB LED, the efficiency and accuracy of load current will be increased. The load current accuracy is a relevant index to measure for a high performance LED driver. Thus, in this paper proposes a digital control approach for controlling the DC-DC converter for the constant current source of RGB LED. The proposed constant current source maintains the minimum drive voltage across the LEDs which lead to reduce power dissipation in the MOSFET and hence increase the efficiency of the LEDs' string. In RGB LED, the LED uses three different voltage sources as each LED color require a different level of voltage sources. The dimming is achievable for LED in the pixel through PWM control signal. The proposed model is verified through MATLAB/Simulink simulation environment. The efficiencies obtained at each branch RGB LEDs are 93%, 97%, and 97% respectively.
