Abstract:

This paper presents a soft switching technique to improve the efficiency of isolated and non-isolated power converters in the high-frequency range. The designed converter uses two switches i.e. main switch and auxiliary switch which are operated in Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) and Zero Current Switching (ZCS) respectively. Here, different circuit modes of ZVS PWM buck converter with the proposed ZCS auxiliary circuit is analyzed. The operating principle is also discussed with generalized auxiliary circuit. The PWM pulse for main switch and auxiliary switch with desired delay has been generated using analog circuit. A 35 W, 200 kHz ZVS-ZCS buck converter is simulated in Matlab/Simulink environment and experimentally verified.
