Abstract:

The shift towards modern Power Distribution Systems is by taking advantage of the innovations of modern power systems, under the terms of smart grids, distributed generation, microgrids, and active distribution networks. This paper presents the novel solution in power flow management for smart grid. By combining load flow algorithm and existing Geographic Information Sysstem (GIS) in distribution systems enables online power flow management to be implemented. The load flow calculation that performed periodically in power flow management can be integrated with the GIS to display the results visually. Load flow calculation requires bus and network data. The accuracy of both data determines the accuracy of the load flow results. The GIS as data asset provides network data and specifications that enables to obtain accurate impedance values. The system will perform realtime monitoring and control by calculating load flow and adjusting the real output power of DG. The proposed method is tested using the medium voltage 20Kv distribution network in Surabaya. The objective of this paper is to show a novel application of Online Power flow management based on Geographic Information System for Active Distribution Network Management.
