Abstract:
Air Conditioning (AC) energy consumption can be reduce by applying spot cooling concept. The smart concept of spot cooling focusing on cooling the occupants in a room rather than randomly disperse the cooling air everywhere to bring down the entire room temperature. The idea is to focus on the purpose of installing AC in the first place which is consumer comfort. The controller utilized for this project are distance sensor HC-SR04 and servo motor with Arduino board to complete the whole circuit. The target to be cooled are detected by distance sensor and the servo motor will then rotate to direct the air cool blower to designated position. The technology to direct the cooling air flow to individual existed in today's AC unit but the amount and strength of air blow are the same regardless of the individual distance and quantity. The objective of this project is to control the AC fin to channel and blow more cool air according to number of individual and their location in the room. Split unit wall mounted type of AC will be used as demonstration in this project and the said unit are controlled to detect and direct the cool air towards the desire object within 5×5 square meter room. The project is setup to be work automatically with easy access to the components for future maintenance work.
