Chapter Abstract:

This chapter presents the data detection module of the OFDM receivers. It considers the detection algorithms for ICI‐ignorant OFDM receivers with a single data stream. The chapter focuses on the ICI‐aware receiver with full ICI among OFDM subcarriers. Two block detectors are presented: the maximum a posteriori (MAP) detector and the soft‐input soft‐output linear minimum mean squared error (MMSE) detector. The chapter deals with the ICI‐aware receiver where the ICI is limited to only close neighbors. The ICI mitigation problem is then viewed as equivalent to the intersymbol interference (ISI) equalization problem in the presence of time‐varying channels. A trellis‐structure based equalization method and a factor‐graph based equalization method are presented respectively. Data detection in an OFDM system with multiple transmitters is considered. Finally, the chapter talks about the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method that is adopted for data detection for the OFDM system with multiple transmitters.
