Abstract:

Wireless power transmission (WPT) has caused a radical change in the medical field, especially for medical implants. In this paper, a review of wireless power transmission history is given, its basic principle and it's very important role to load various medical implants such as cardiac, visual, gastric and endoscopic implants. The basic design of the WPT for each implant was been presented. This paper also outlines the safety consideration for human exposure to electromagnetic field.

I. Introduction

Profound deafness, teeth loss, a body malformation, vision loss or heart malfunction with other anomalies in some cases engender paralysis in the organism activity and in other cases threat the life of human being. All these problems have highlighted a major and urgent need to find ideas that not can only overcome these health problems, but also increase life expectancy. In recent years, the use of medical implants has boomed. Indeed, they founded in various medical applications like capillary implants, dental implants, breast implants, and hormone contraceptive implants and prosthetics knees. The medical implant installed in the human body requires the use of energy to perform the requested function. To get away and even prevent many problems, a powerful technology used that is called the wireless power transmission (WPT). This technology has caused a radical change in the medical community. Even better wireless transfer energy allows the energy sensor devices to been implanted deeply in the body, several centimeters under the skin. At the image of sensor, the power source may also be several centimeters from the skin surface.
